It was important to us to find a good Mexican restaurant tonight. Chip and I met 30 years ago on vacation at Club Med in Mexico, so we had to celebrate over fine Mexican cuisine. La Casa Restaurant in Sonoma Plaza was just the ticket.

The interior glow of La Casa was so inviting on this chilly January evening.
The dining room was spacious and I had no problem getting to the table. It was a slow winter night, but it there was ample room even for a weekend crowd.
The menu was more than just a Tex-Mex repeat. The chef is from Mexico and specializes in the cuisine of Mexico’s Jalisco region. The menu tempted us to step out a little from our norm.
The perfect choice for me was the posole—a hearty Mexican soup with hominy and chicken. The fish tacos were a work of art with one grilled and one sautéed. This was really great Mexican food and we will return. Perhaps for Happy Hour!
The barstools were a traditional height, but it was easy to relax with a drink at the bar tables.
The restrooms were attractive and accessibly functional.
With our memories of Mexico we couldn’t have been more content and happy. If you’re looking for Mexican food in Sonoma that is delicious and accessible, you’ve found it at La Casa Restaurant and Bar.
